We all know that most state legislatures are making drastic cuts to their budgets. One of the main areas of cut backs is to higher education, and, as a result, public colleges and universities are turning to their alumni for support. This is a new experience for many public institutions; however, private colleges and universities have a long and successful history of soliciting their alumni and hosting reunion activities. Many events draw alumni to the campus, while others are held in various locations across the country where alumni congregate.

While academic programs and instructors at public institutions are being eliminated, alumni associations are increasing their staffs and gearing up their fundraising appeals. More events are being held in order to solicit their alumni. As a result, alumni associations are increasing their budgets to include banners, other event signage, and branding items. Before starting Banners on a Roll® with my partner, Brad Lehrer, I was a professional, nonprofit fundraiser. Consequently, I understand that alumni associations walk a fine line. They must host events and distribute printed materials which not only spread their appeal messages effectively, and, at the same time, they must assure their donors that the school is not spending too much of its money directly on the events and promotional materials. Donors want to make a difference in the lives of students; they don’t want to donate to the operational budget, which pays for services such as heating the buildings and cleaning the common areas on campuses. Alumni associations are developing programs to achieve their fundraising goals. Often supplies such as banners, table skirting, and stickers are purchased in order to host effective events. That’s where Banners on a Roll® can help. Give us a call to discuss your objectives, and we’ll work with you to meet your goals. Our years of experience working with nonprofits will benefit your organization by providing the most effective items for your events while working within your budget constraints. We enjoy developing fundraising campaigns, and we’re good at thinking outside the box to make an effective branding statement.

What a challenge alumni associations face! Not only are you scurrying to generate funds for your schools from alumni, but also you are competing with other nonprofits organizations across the country, which are also facing budget cuts. But you are not alone. Banners on a Roll® is here to work with you to host effective events which result in increased alumni donations. Feel free to give us a call, and we look forward to discussing your plans with you.

In my previous life, I was a non-profit fundraiser, who was in charge of community events. The only banner signage available then was conventional, vinyl banners, which, as you know, are quite costly. At each event I was the “banner guard.” Not only did I ensure that the event ran smoothly, but also I made sure that the banners were not stolen. Ugh! What an awful job! I constantly had to keep my eyes on the signage. Then after the event it was my job to roll up the banners carefully so that I could reuse them at other events. I wish that I had had Banners on a Roll! It would have been so easy to unroll a line of repeating imprints, put them up, and leave them for fans and participants to take home as souvenirs. I also would have had ready-made table skirting for registration tables and banquets.

It’s so easy to imagine ways to use Banners on a Roll: table skirting, signage at community service events and fundraisers, backdrops for photos, and barriers to cordon off special areas. All sorts of organizations can use Banners on a Roll. Corporations can use them not only in the community to brand events, but also for in-house activities such as company picnics, annual meetings, and conferences. Non-profits can use Banners on a Roll at orientations, fundraisers, and banquets. Colleges and universities, additionally, can use Banners on a Roll at alumni and athletic events.

Even though the economy is improving slowly, consumer spending is down and many companies are still struggling to deliver the profits that they achieved in the past few years. As a marketing/promotion person, where does that leave you? Your boss expects your company’s visibility in the community to increase in order to prevent declining profits, while at the same time your budget is slashed.

As we all know, one of the first departments to come under scrutiny tends to be marketing. Now you need to be cleaver, creative, and frugal. Spend your budget dollars wisely and get a bang for your buck. It’s a critical time to look at how you’re spending your marketing budget and to determine if you may have opportunities for improvement. Get your message out in the community now and when the financial times improve, your company will be remembered by consumers, who will have additional dollars to spend.

That’s how Banners on a Roll® can benefit you! Any promotion can be brought to life with their consistent, attention-grabbing presence. Spread your message for a fraction of the cost of conventional banners.

Now is the time to think smart and to spend wisely. As a former nonprofit fundraiser, I know what it’s like to work with creative teams under tight budgets in order to implement effective promotions. Don’t let the economy get you down. Get savvy. Get Banners on a Roll®.

So you just bought an order of Banners on a Roll® for your bike race/ marathon and you want to use them the best ways possible, right? Below are 10 quick tips on how Banners on a Roll® are most commonly and effectively used for your race.

as Event Signage
1. Easy-to-use, weatherproof signage at races (run along stage)
2. Run along fences. Wrap hay bales. Use as safety barriers
3. Table skirting at registrations and award ceremonies
4. Background logo wall at press conferences, award ceremonies and promotions

in Community Events
5. Parades– skirting for floats/signage for marchers
6. At golf tournaments—flag for hole poles, decorate golf and beverage carts and award banquet
7. Signage at speaking engagements
8. Promotions in schools, civic clubs, and stores
9. Wrap donation barrels at food, book, and clothing drives

as Spirit Flags
10. Give individually-cut logos to fans at concerts. Have fans wave your logos … they make for great visuals in the stands.

No matter the event, what’s great about Banners on a Roll® is that you can leave your logo behind and it’s better than a poster. It won’t wrinkle and it’s waterproof.
